The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series set an “official measured and notarised qualified” period of 6min 43.616sec for lap without T13 directly and 6min 48.047sec for the total lap. This locations the recently launched supercar at the top of the street-legal ‘sports vehicle’ group.

That first time, – offered up because records set before 2019 were set with no 232-metre straight inclusion added included in the brand new ‘official’ lap, – beats the last record holder, the V12-powered Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, by just over 1.3sec. The new record had been set by Mercedes-AMG GT3 racing motorist, Maro Engel.

No improvements had been meant to the GT Ebony Series beyond those that are built to it as a manufacturing model. Like, the adjustable front side splitter was extended toward Race position, the spoiler blades were set to the center position and the flexible coil over suspension system had been reduced by 5mm at the front and 3mm within back. The camber has also been modified to the “maximum feasible values”, whilst the anti-roll pubs were in their toughest environment.

Mercedes claims the GT Ebony Series’ nine-stage grip control system was adjusted between positions six and seven based on in which Engel had been regarding the lap. The factory Track bundle was fitted with rollover protection, while the standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 roentgen MO tyres were fitted.

Engel described the GT Ebony Series as “significantly faster” than their GT3 automobile. The lap time was set on a single day as Mercedes-AMG’s current ‘executive course’ record set by the GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé, indicating track temperatures had been low plus some elements of the track were described as “not yet completely dry”.
