For safer roads, Maruti Suzuki and Microsoft join hands to introduce HAMS technology for motorist training

With a target to make Indian roads safer, Maruti Suzuki Asia in collaboration with Microsoft Research India is rolling out a smart phone based technology for screening applicants searching for driver’s license. The technology – HAMS (Harnessing vehicle for Safety) – is implemented at Automated Driving Test Centre (ADTC), Dehradun in colaboration with the Transport Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The technology has been developed and tested jointly by Maruti Suzuki-promoted Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) and Microsoft analysis Asia.

Maruti Suzuki has partnered with State Governments to set up state-of-the-art automatic Driving Test Centres. These centres are equipped with advanced movie analytic technology to check on driving abilities of this candidates and change handbook assessment of applicants.

Working of HAMS

Throughout the screening process, the applicant’s vehicle is fastened with a HAMS-enabled smartphone that monitors the motorist along with the road in-front.
